Time Management for Entreprenuers and Everyone Else

By: Christine Groth

Time management I think is an overwhelming problem in today’s society. It’s a problem for business productivity, families, parents, and everything under the roof. We are in a time when there is more industrialization and less time. We have got all this stuff to make our life easier, but how come we have less time?

Part of the reason is that we have taken on so much responsibility. We have two working families, homes to take care of, children to manage, older family members to be concerned about.

So how do we manage our time?

My first word of advice is watch out for time vampires. People who waste your time and devices that waste your time. It’s the next door lady who catches you walking to your car at home and wastes ½ hour talking about something that really does not matter.

Another time waster, sorry, is email and cell phones. How many times do you check your email, how many times are you talking on your phone? It amazes me how people are prisoners of their cell phone. What ever they may be doing they stop to answer the cell phone. Knock it off time wasters!

Shopping is another time waster. I have a girl friend who I swear does nothing but go shopping everyday. Shopping for her self, kids, husband for clothes, groceries, and new patio furniture, whatever. But guess what, she than has to go back to the stores to return the stuff but it does not fit. I told her do you realize how much time you waste?

And I hate to say it but the chief all time- time waster is... T.V. I know alot of you enjoy watching T.V. to relax. But my concern is the fact that so much T.V. is negative. The news, programs about murder and disease. Ideas that just make us so fearful of stepping outside of our house and living. Fill your mind with postive information and you will find yourself a whole lot happier.

Time is the most important asset you possess. A lot of people are cursed with the idea do it right now. You must ask yourself if you can delegate work in your business, family. This is a big one though, I see a lot of families that do not work together and don’t delegate work out to others. My daughters are 9 years old and help me make dinner, (chopping food, stirring) set the table, fold clothes, take out the garbage etc. This obviously teaches them responsibility and that everything is a lot of work. So I hope your family believes it’s a community effort.
