Studies have shown that women are more likely than men to suffer from migraines, and stress is usually the trigger. Many women today are balancing a career, home, family, social activities as well the kid’s activities. Stress becomes a part of everyday life, but migraines can be controlled with exercise, yoga, massages, and avoiding certain triggers. Migraines are usually characterized by throbbing pain on one side of the head. In addition to the pain, a person normally feels nausea, vomits or is sensitive to light and sound. Visual disturbances such as blind spots, dots or wavy lines or flashing lights are usually warning signs of an attack. The migraine can last as long as 72 hours or longer, and it usually leaves the person feeling mentally exhausted. To help reduce migraines the following is recommended: ·Avoid triggers such as caffeine, red wine, aged cheese, certain odors such as perfume or cleaning products, cigarette or other smoke, loud noises or bright lights. It is recommended that you keep a log of your migraines and what triggered them. ·Implement relaxation techniques such as yoga and massages into your life. ·Get plenty of sleep. ·For milder symptoms try Excedrin Migraine or painkillers that contain ibuprofen and aspirin. If your migraines continue or you experience unusual symptoms such as speech problems, consult your doctor or neurologist immediately.
